ART ON VESTLIA RESORT
The Gundersen Collection
At Vestlia, we appreciate beautiful art and have chosen to adorn our walls with masterpieces by various artists, so your stay can also be a little art experience.
First and foremost, Norway's largest collection of drinking vessels is housed in the lobby at Vestlia Resort. Some of these unique vessels date back to the 16th century and are an important part of folk art in Norway.
In the lobby you will also find paintings by Kai Fjell, Axel Ender and prints by Edvard Munch, which we are very proud of.
In the Kai Fjell Hall, the walls are adorned with beautiful paintings by the artist Kai Fjell. Kai Fjell was a key figure in the romantic-expressive Norwegian art of the 1930s, in clear opposition to the more dominant formalist movement. At the age of barely 30, he was proclaimed "Edvard Munch's successor". One critic called him "the chivalrous interpreter of women, the poet of gross forces and the longing and sometimes melancholy Eros".
In addition, we have the motifs in Eventyrbadet, based on Theodor Kittelsen's famous fairytale works. That's what we call great art!
"What I particularly like about the hotel is all the beautiful art they have. In the lobby you'll find paintings from both Munch and Theodor Kittelsen, and not least, they have a separate room with an impressive collection of Kai Fjell's paintings. In the hotel's hallways and rooms you'll also find old antiques and Norway's largest collection of drinking vessels, dating back to the 16th century."
